DOGGETT'S COAT & BADGE race cruise - thursday 15 july 2010
Every year for the past 295 years a single sculls rowing race has been held on the River Thames in which young watermen compete over a course of 4 miles 7 furlongs through central London to receive a scarlet coat and silver badge as originally presented by the founder of the wager, one Thomas Doggett.
Next year will be no exception when another group of young hopefuls will line up on 15th July 2010 to prove their skill - and once again City Cruises will be there to witness the proceedings. Our annual Doggett's Coat & Badge Race Cruise will sail from St. Katharine's Pier, by the Tower Hotel on St. Katherine's Way - nearest Underground station Tower Hill on the District and Circle lines, or Tower Gateway on the Docklands Light Railway. Join us for the best possible views of this unique event and cheer on the contestants as the race unfolds.
Boarding at St. Katherine's Pier will commence at 11am with a Pimms reception on board the M.V.Millennium of London. A lunch of lasagne and salad, dessert and tea & coffee will be served as we follow the race - and, of course, the bars will be open throughout the cruise which will return to St. Katherine's Pier at about 3pm.
Price: £37.50 per person including V.A.T.
